Manager, Student & Associate Talent (Vancouver)
The Role:
The Manager, Student & Associate Talent (Vancouver) supports the delivery and administration of the Vancouver office’s student recruitment, associate development, and professional development initiatives.
Reporting to the Director, Student & Associate Talent (Vancouver), this role assists in the coordination and implementation of programs and processes that support the recruitment, development, integration, and engagement of students and associates. Working closely with the Director, Coordinator, and the broader Professional Development team, the Manager helps ensure a high-quality talent experience aligned with firm standards, strategic priorities, and office needs.
Essential Functions:
Student Recruitment & Campus Engagement Support:
- Support the Director with the coordination and administration of the Vancouver student recruitment process
- Assist with recruitment activities, including career fairs, student outreach, campus events, firm tours, and interview scheduling
- Coordinate recruitment logistics and support candidate communications throughout recruitment cycles
- Review student applications and participate in interviews as requested by the Director
- Assist with maintaining relationships with law schools, career services offices, and student organizations
- Support sponsorship initiatives, profile-building activities, and recruitment-related communications and social media outreach
- Identify process improvements to enhance recruitment, onboarding, development, and review processes
Student Program Management
- Assist with the administration and day-to-day operations of the Vancouver Student Program
- Support onboarding, orientation, training logistics, and scheduling for summer and articling students
- Support preparation and administration of training materials
- Manage student-related events and professional development sessions alongside the Coordinator
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to students throughout the program
- Assist the Director with feedback collection, hire back processes, and overall program administration
- Support administration of scholarship and student pipeline initiatives
Associate & Professional Development Support
- Assist with the planning and delivery of associate and student training programs and professional development initiatives
- Support preparation and administration of training materials and program logistics
- Support the local implementation of national professional development initiatives within the Vancouver office
Performance Review & Talent Process Administration
- Assist with associate and student review processes as needed
- Support tracking of development goals, training participation, and identified learning needs
- Monitor and flag student and associate workload or hour-related concerns for discussion with the Director
- Assist with talent-related reporting, presentations, scheduling, budget tracking, and administrative coordination
- Support implementation and continuous improvement of talent processes and initiatives within the office
National Collaboration & Operational Support
- Collaborate with the broader Professional Development and Student Programs team on national initiatives and firmwide programs
- Support the local implementation of national recruitment and professional development initiatives
- Maintain records and databases related to recruitment, sponsorships, training, and development initiatives
- Provide operational and administrative support for various talent management initiatives as required
Qualifications:
- JD or LL.B. preferred, with 1 to 3 years of experience practicing law in a large commercial law firm
- Demonstrated interest in student recruitment, mentoring, associate development, and professional development initiatives
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Additional Details:
- Compensation: $120,000 - $150,000 per annum
