Team Lead, Digital Marketing
The Role:
The Team Lead, Digital Marketing is a key leader responsible for defining, executing, and continuously optimizing Bennett Jones’ digital marketing initiatives. Reporting to the Director, Marketing, Communications and Digital Channels, you will partner with internal stakeholder to craft tailored digital strategies that drive client engagement, support business development, and enhance brand visibility in both domestic and international markets.
This role demands a strategic thinker with exceptional project management skills and a collaborative mindset. You will spearhead multi-channel digital campaigns, streamline processes through automation, and leverage advanced analytics to inform decision-making. In addition, you will lead and mentor a team of digital marketing professionals, manage relationships with technology vendors, ensure that the Firm is capturing custom, advanced analytic data to be used across Firm wide performance dashboards and oversee digital advertising and paid media efforts to ensure the firm's digital channels set the standard for excellence in the legal industry.
Essential Functions:
Digital Strategy and Execution (40%)
- Strategic Planning: Partner with internal stakeholders to develop bespoke digital marketing strategies that align with firm-wide objectives and drive measurable engagement while always looking for opportunities to track to attribution
- Content, SEO and User Optimization: Oversee the addition of digital content to the website—including lawyer bios, practice group pages and campaign landing pages—ensuring adherence to SEO best practices, consistent branding and a user-centric design
- Campaign Development and Automation: Lead the creation of creative briefs, digital communication plans, and project roadmaps for national and localized efforts. Identify opportunities to integrate automation tools, streamline workflows to enhance efficiency and improve the experience for both clients and internal stakeholders
- Social Media Strategy Consultation: Consult with the content team and the dedicated social media specialist to set strategic direction for social media initiatives, ensuring that social media efforts are fully aligned with overall digital marketing objectives and optimized for engagement
- Digital Advertising and Paid Media: Develop the case for, and manage digital advertising strategies, including social media advertising, to drive measurable results that track to a quantifiable conversion and maximize ROI
- Website and Email Marketing Leadership: Direct large-scale website initiatives (e.g., new page development, identifying and driving the need for redesigns, UX improvements). Oversee the ongoing management of the email marketing/marketing automation platform to support business development while utilizing platform feature sets to maximize engagement
- Customer Journey Mapping and Personalization: Develop detailed customer journey maps across all initiatives to understand client interactions and touchpoints, leveraging these insights to tailor and personalize digital campaigns and content for improved engagement and conversion
Team Leadership and Digital Operations (30%)
- Team Management and Mentorship: Lead and mentor the digital marketing team, setting performance goals, managing workloads, and fostering an innovative, high-performing environment
- Vendor and Technology Management: Manage relationships with technology and marketing vendors, ensuring the delivery of high-quality digital services and solutions that align with strategic objectives
Analytics, Reporting and Technology Optimization (20%)
- Performance Measurement: Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for various digital initiatives, using advanced analytics to round out the entire picture and scrutinize campaign effectiveness
- Data-Driven Optimization: Leverage reporting tools and data insights (including advanced knowledge of platforms such as Google Analytics (GA4) and Power BI) to develop actionable recommendations, continuously iterating on digital strategies to maximize ROI
- Emerging Trends and Technology: Proactively research and integrate emerging digital marketing technologies and trends to keep Bennett Jones at the forefront of digital marketing innovation
- Driving Digital Transformation: Leading and collaborating on initiatives that identify, evaluate and implement new marketing technologies, with a focus to improve the martech stack (regularly updating tools, platforms and processes to ensure optimal performance, future-proofing and scalability)
- Data Transparency: Generating reports and/or dashboards that are openly available with the team and with management
- Communication and Reporting: Provide regular updates to key stakeholders, facilitating transparency and collaboration across digital initiatives
- Identifying opportunities for the development of custom, Firm-wide dashboards, created in Power BI, that remove the need for regular updates
Project and Stakeholder Management (10%)
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders (business development leaders) to ensure digital projects meet diverse needs and align with firm strategy
- Project Ownership: Lead cross-functional teams from project conception to completion—creating detailed project plans, managing approvals, addressing risks and ensuring timely delivery of high-impact digital campaigns
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field
- 5+ years of progressive experience in digital marketing
- Executive-level drafting and communications skills, with an emphasis on efficiency and brevity
- Proactive and able to take initiative to advance thought leadership and communications objectives and actions
- Strong data-driven approach with the ability to translate analytics into actionable insights
- Deep understanding of digital marketing best practices, including SEO, content optimization, multi-channel campaign management, marketing automation, and paid media strategies across social, SEM and programmatic efforts via self-serve DSPs
- Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop high-performing teams in a collaborative environment
- Exceptional project management skills with a track record of delivering complex digital projects on time and within budget
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, digital marketing platforms, analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Power BI) and the Sitecore AI CMS system
- Positive attitude combined with flexible approach to varying client base and needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, including excellent relationship management abilities, diplomacy, flexibility and patience
- Ability to work flexible hours as required
Additional Details:
- Compensation: $90,000- $110,000 per annum
