In "Lessons in Corporate Governance," written by Barry Critchley, Blair Yorke-Slader comments on Justice Rosemary Nation's judgment in the Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta case of Carlson Family Trust et al v. MPL Communications Inc. The Court determined that the affairs of MPL had been run in a way that was prejudicial to the interests of minority shareholders, and ordered the insiders to repay to the company several million dollars of unauthorized management fees and other amounts. Yorke-Slader acted for the successful plaintiff group, which had sold their on-line investment website business to MPL in the late 1990s for cash and MPL shares.
