Brynne Harding appears on CTV News Calgary to discuss Phase 2 of Alberta's Provincial Administrative Penalties Act. The Act is part of a larger Justice Transformation Initiative being implemented in three phases. Phase 2 comes into effect on February 1, 2022, and will essentially eliminate traffic court, instead moving the process online. Traffic ticket disputes will be resolved by a new provincial adjudication branch.
Brynne says that:
- The adjudication branch will have stricter rules and far fewer powers than a Judge of the Court, meaning less challenge options for drivers
- Implementation of Phase 2 will free up much-needed Court resources
