Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) is advancing an ambitious program of more than C$700 million in city-building capital projects throughout 2026, reinforcing its role as a leader in revitalizing Calgary’s downtown and surrounding communities. Bennett Jones is proud to represent CMLC as it delivers this significant portfolio of real estate and infrastructure initiatives that continue to shape the city’s future.

A major focus for 2026 is the launch of five new developments in Calgary’s East Village, which will bring approximately 600 new housing units and 132 new hotel rooms to the community. CMLC is also progressing planning work on 13 future transit‑oriented communities, developments that will ultimately replace existing park‑and‑ride lots at key CTrain stations and introduce housing, retail and public spaces.

Additional major projects advancing in 2026 include the $70‑million transformation of Olympic Plaza, the continued expansion of the $660‑million Werklund Centre and multiple infrastructure improvements supporting the Culture + Entertainment District and other downtown redevelopment initiatives.

Bennett Jones advises CMLC through a multidisciplinary team with deep experience in major real estate, government advisory and infrastructure work. Our lawyers are proactive, deal‑oriented advisors across development, construction, land‑use planning, commercial leasing and property management, bringing a strong understanding of market cycles and emerging industry demands.
