Associate (1 to 3 years), Employment & Labour Law

The role:

We are seeking a junior employment lawyer to join our Employment & Labour Law team. This role focuses on transactional employment law, particularly in the context of mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and cross-border matters. In this position, you will collaborate closely with our Business Law team on high-stakes, large-scale transactions involving a diverse and sophisticated clientele. The role also requires you to support clients for advisory and general employment law matters, including compliance, workplace standards, and policy development and to represent clients' interests before various courts and tribunals.

Essential Functions:

  • Conduct employment-related due diligence
  • Review compensation structures and incentive plans
  • Draft and negotiate employment and contractor agreements
  • Advise on restrictive covenants, corporate policies, and collective agreements
  • Review employment-related provisions in share and asset purchase agreements
  • Support clients on employment standards, compliance, and workplace matters
  • Provide advisory support for all workplace related legal compliance
  • Provide support and representation of clients' interests before relevant boards, tribunals and courts in advisory role
  • Collaborate with colleagues in a high-performing, team-oriented environment
  • Stay current on legal developments and contribute to thought leadership
  • Participate in business development and professional content creation

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate must be eligible to practice law in Québec and possess the following qualifications:
  • 1–3 years of experience in employment law, ideally with exposure to transactional matters
  • Excellent legal writing, analytical, and pleading skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
  • Bilingualism (French and English), both spoken and written

The successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop their career and skills as part of a growing practice and office that fosters an entrepreneurial spirit—with freedom and flexibility—as well as ongoing support through training and mentoring to ensure a rapid professional development. Our firm offers a collegial work environment, work-life balance, competitive compensation package and robust platform for success.
