Nathan Murray has a general energy regulatory, environmental and administrative law practice. He provides practical and strategic legal solutions to clients navigating complex regulatory and legal challenges.
Nathan has been involved in proceedings before administrative tribunals including the Alberta Energy Regulator and the Alberta Utilities Commission and at all levels of the Alberta Courts.
Nathan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Master of Public Policy from Simon Fraser University and completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Calgary in 2024. During law school he interned at the Alberta Utilities Commission and the Market Surveillance Administrator gaining valuable experience in regulatory and administrative law.
Prior to joining Bennett Jones, he articled with the firm and was seconded to a large integrated oil and gas company. Before pursuing law, Nathan worked as an economist at the Government of Canada, focusing on the natural resource and energy sectors. He contributed to developing industrial policy, international trade strategy and domestic regulatory impact assessments. Nathan also previously worked as a tradesperson on major industrial manufacturing and energy infrastructure projects.
