Melanie Aitken appeared live on BNN Bloomberg to speak on big tech regulation in the market place. She was asked if laws need to change to keep up—and said that regulation always has a tradeoff. One could be disincentivizing startups from innovating aggressively, and diminish if not squelch their innovative spirit. A tradeoff with regulating content is that someone will have to be the arbiter of what kind of voice is acceptable.

Melanie says that regulating content is not a competition issue. Governments and agencies need to clearly identify the problem they are trying to address before they can talk about remedies. "You need to bark up the right tree if you're looking for the right remedy."
