Nominations are now open for the National Business Book Award (NBBA) and Bennett Jones is proud to once again co-sponsor this prestigious literary honour. Online entries are due on February 1, 2019, and books must be Canadian business-related and published in 2018.

Presented annually for over 30 years, the NBBA is an annual celebration of Canadian authors of outstanding non-fiction business-related books. Last year’s NBBA winner was Chris Turner for The Patch: The People, Pipelines, and Politics of the Oil Sands.

The NBBA created a podcast series, Curating the Business Conversation, exploring each of last year’s nominated books. The episodes do a deep dive with each author and are hosted by entrepreneur and innovation expert Mitch Joel. In addition to NBBA winner Chris Turner, Mitch speaks with:

  • Donald Savoie on Looking for Bootstraps: Economic Development in the Maritimes
  • James Darroch, co-author with Patricia Meredith, of Stumbling Giants: Transforming Canada’s Banks for the Information Age
  • Jennifer Riel who co-authored Creating Great Choices: A Leader's Guide to Integrative Thinking with Roger Martin

Mitch also takes a look at The Beauty of Business Books on his blog Six Pixels of Separation. He writes on his love for the “punchy, quick, funny, smart, practical” content that business books can bring to the reader.
