Stoneway is on the shortlist of Latin Lawyer's 17th annual Deal of the Year Awards in the restructuring category. Bennett Jones advised Stoneway in the May 2022 Canada Business Corporations Act (CBCA) proceedings to implement a cross-border and international restructuring of a group of companies (collectively known as Stoneway).
In the novel restructuring, a CBCA Plan of Arrangement was utilized in parallel with a Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization under the United States Bankruptcy Code, and contained unique features in light of the intertwined cross-border proceedings of Stoneway.
The Deal of the Year Award winners will be announced in São Paulo on May 11.
