Bennett Jones congratulates Anu Nijhawan on her election as chair of the board of governors of the Canadian Tax Foundation (CTF). Her election is a testament to her leadership and accomplishments in the area of tax law, including as a trusted advisor on some of Canada’s largest and most complex transactions.

As Canada’s pre-eminent tax organization, the CTF is the country’s leading source of insight on tax issues, promoting an understanding of the Canadian tax system through analysis, research and debate.  With over 13,000 members, it provides a unique forum for tax professionals, including lawyers, accountants, academics, government officials and others, to shape policy, deepen knowledge and work together for the betterment of the Canadian tax system.

Anu is a partner in, and co-head of, the Bennett Jones national Tax Department, with extensive experience advising a diverse client base on the income tax aspects of corporate and partnership reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, debt and equity financing transactions, and resource taxation issues. Her practice encompasses all aspects of income tax issues related to international structures for Canadian-based multinational corporations, on investments by non-residents in Canada, and on structuring cross-border acquisitions, divestitures and financing transactions. Anu has a long history of serving the Canadian tax profession in a variety of leadership positions.

We look forward to the continued positive impact Anu will make in her new role as chair of the CTF.
