Karen Dawson has extensive experience representing borrowers, agents, lenders and trustees in a wide range of domestic and international finance transactions (secured and unsecured), including corporate lending transactions, asset based lending transactions, equipment financings, acquisition financings, project financings, leveraged and operating leases, securitizations and private placements in various sectors including banking/financial institutions, energy, oil and gas, transportation, manufacturing, communications and technology. She also has experience working on restructurings (including the establishment of debtor-in-possession financing arrangements and foreclosures), and routinely advises in connection with cross-border financing arrangements, including credit facilities and high yield note issuances.
Before joining Bennett Jones, Karen worked at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP in New York City. While at Pillsbury, she was seconded to Citigroup in New York City, where she acted in conjunction with an in-house legal group counselling business personnel on issues related to syndicated loans and guarantees.
Karen is a member of the American Bar Association (Business Law Section), New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
