Mike Eizenga's move to Bennett Jones is profiled in Daryl-Lynn Carlson's article, "Sides Not as 'Divided' as U.S.; Eizenga Sees Opportunity to Speed Up Cases." Eizenga, a litigator in the firm's Toronto office and whose practice focused largely on class actions representing mostly plaintiffs for 21 years at Siskinds in London, Ontario, joined Bennett Jones in April of this year and now largely represents defendant clients. Unlike the U.S., where there is a greater divide between those representing plaintiffs or defendants, Eizenga saw an opportunity to assist with possibly expediting class actions so they can become an even more popular means of recourse for justice. Fellow partner Jeff Leon agrees that Canada has a much more co-operative bar between defence and plaintiff lawyers.
