Asante Gold Announces Purchase of Chirano Gold Mine for US$225 Million

Bennett Jones is acting for Asante Gold Corporation in its share purchase agreement with Kinross Gold Corporation to acquire Kinross’ 90% interest in the Chirano Gold Mine for a total consideration of US$225 million. The Ghanaian government retains a 10% carried interest in Chirano—an operating open-pit and underground mining operation located in southwestern Ghana, immediately south of Asante’s Bibiani Gold Mine.
