Prior to joining Bennett Jones, Mike was co-chair of the class action department of a regional firm and was active on the firm's Board.
A fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, Mike is widely acknowledged as one of Canada's leading class action lawyers. He is in the Most Frequently Recommended category for Class Action Litigation and the Consistently Recommended category for Product Liability Litigation in Lexpert. He is also listed in Best Lawyers in Canada.
Mike received his B.A. (1979), M.A. (1986) and LL.B. (1989) from the University of Western Ontario and his Masters in Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary (1984).
On the Board of Pro Bono Law Ontario and a number of other community, professional and academic organizations, Mike is a former president of the Advocates' Society (2007-08) and former member of its Board of Directors (1999-2008). He is also a past president of the Liberal Party of Canada (2003-06) and past president of the Liberal Party of Ontario (1995-97). He is currently on the Board of the Federal Liberal Agency of Canada. He has taught at Western's Faculty of Law, Department of Political Science and Department of Philosophy; Osgoode Hall's Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop, the Law Society's Bar Admission Course, and at both the Ontario Theological Seminary and the Dallas Theological Seminary.
