John says that the stars have aligned and an equity window has opened in the last four to five weeks. The equity markets were tight or closed for some period of time, so it created a backlog of demand.

Since July 2015, there have been three private equity-backed going private transactions involving Canadian energy and energy-services companies. There were only 15 similar transactions in the sector during the prior 10 years.
