Katherine Fisher has a practice focused on health law and bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring law.

Health Law

Katherine has extensive experience representing physicians in professional regulatory and litigation matters, including professional disciplinary proceedings and malpractice actions. Katherine also assists physicians with privileging, billing, human rights and privacy related matters. 

In her general health law practice, Katherine provides legal advice to regulatory bodies, healthcare professionals and a variety of organizations in the healthcare sector with respect to policies, employment matters, billing practices, privacy and compliance matters.  

Bankruptcy, Insolvency and Restructuring Law

Katherine's practice also encompasses all areas of restructuring and bankruptcy. She regularly acts for creditors, debtors and court-appointed monitors, receivers and trustees in insolvency and restructuring proceedings, including cross-border insolvency proceedings. 

Katherine has appeared at all levels of Court in Alberta, as well as before various administrative tribunals and appellate panels. 

Prior to entering the legal profession, Katherine worked as a nurse in a pediatric intensive care setting, where she gained unique insights into legal and ethical challenges in the health care sector. Additionally, she completed a Master of Nursing degree, focused on advanced practice in child health.

Katherine clerked with the Court of Appeal of Alberta in 2013-2014. While attending law school, Katherine served as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Alberta Law Review and was actively involved with the Health Law Institute at the University of Alberta.

Katherine is the Co-Chair of the Health Law and Creditor and Debtor sections of the Canadian Bar Association – Alberta Branch (2022-2023) and serves on the Education Committee of the International Women's Insolvency Restructuring Confederation – Western Canada Network.
