Bennett Jones is pleased to announce that Serge Dupont has joined the firm as a Senior Advisor in the Governmental Affairs and Public Policy group. Serge last served as Canada’s Deputy Clerk of the Privy Council and Deputy Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs. In this role he supported the Prime Minister, the Cabinet and the Clerk of the Privy Council Office in the development and implementation of public policy, and the conduct of federal-provincial-territorial relations and the stewardship of the public service.

“Serge brings the benefit of over 30 years of experience in public service in Canada and internationally to clients,” says Hugh MacKinnon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bennett Jones.? “With a tremendous knowledge of both the public and private sectors, he can help clients assess strategic choices in an evolving market and policy environment.”

Serge has a long history of interacting with Canadian industry, leading policy reforms and large-scale transactions in key sectors of the economy, including financial services and energy. Between 2010 and 2014, he was Deputy Minister, Natural Resources Canada. Previously, he held senior roles in Financial Sector Policy and Tax Policy in Finance Canada. He also represented Canada, Ireland and the Caribbean on the Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund. He currently sits on the Board of the Public Policy Forum.
