Simon Grant practises corporate and commercial law, with an emphasis on financing transactions and financial regulation. Simon is also a co-head of Bennett Jones' cross-disciplinary Fintech & Blockchain practice group.
Simon routinely acts for credit providers, borrowers and sponsors on loan facilities, acquisition financings, project financing and capital markets transactions. He also regularly advises clients on financial regulation and compliance, including foreign financial institutions and fintech companies doing business in Canada and end users in connection with Canada's G20 commitments to regulate derivatives.
Simon speaks and writes widely on financial innovation. Most recently, he co-wrote the Canada chapter in Global Legal Insights‘ Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Legislation. He was also a keynote speaker at the 2017 Celero FinTech Conference.
Simon first joined Bennett Jones after summering and articling with the firm. He later re-joined the firm after practicing with an international law firm in New York City.
