Sabine offers clients over 40 years of legal expertise in mining, corporate
reorganization, securities, financing, and mergers and acquisitions. He
represents clients in a number of industries including transportation,
hospitality and broadcasting. With transaction experience in the Americas,
Africa, Europe and Asia, John is widely recognized for advising clients on
complex international projects.
In addition to advising public companies
and investment banks, John has served on the boards of directors of a number of
public and private companies in a variety of businesses. Until the takeover in
2012, he was a director and Chairman of the Board of Anvil Mining Limited. He is
currently non-executive chair of North American Nickel Inc. and a director of Seabridge Gold Inc. and Algold Resources Ltd.
John returns to Bennett Jones where he was
previously the managing partner of the Toronto office. He is also the former
Chief Executive Officer of Arbor Memorial Services Inc.
- Counsel to the Special Committee of the Board of Directors of Romarco Minerals Inc. in connection with its acquisition by OceanaGold Corporation pursuant to a court approved plan of arrangement for approximately $856 million on a fully-diluted in the money basis.
- Osisko Gold Royalties Ltd. in connection with its business combination to acquire Virginia Mines Inc. for approximately $461 million.
- Counsel to WaterFurnace Renewable Energy, Inc. merger with NIBE Industries AB of Sweden in a transaction valued at C$378 million.
