Bennett Jones partner appointed as Justice of the Federal Court of Appeal

(Calgary) Bennett Jones is pleased to announce that Michael Ryer, a partner in the firm's tax group, has been appointed a Justice of the Federal Court of Appeal. He will be sworn in on December 1, 2006.

Michael's practice experience extends to all aspects of tax law. He has acted for individuals, corporations large and small, governments and government agencies, and international agencies such as the World Bank on tax and fiscal matters. He has also assisted in the drafting of legislation and regulations. Most recently, Michael was involved with Telus' proposed $22 billion dollar income trust conversion.

He will join fellow alumnus, Mr. Justice Marc Nl, at the Federal Court of Appeal.
