A member of the firm's public markets practice group, Nick acts for public and private corporations, including oil and gas, industrial and technology clients. Nick's practice extends to private and public debt and equity offerings, domestic and international acquisitions, licence and distributorship arrangements, debt restructurings and shareholder disputes (including proxy contexts). Nick has also provided corporate and securities law support to internal corporate investigations (including investigations of options practices) and the defence of class action proceedings.

Nick acts as corporate secretary of Resonance Energy Ltd., a private oil and gas corporation, and previously served as corporate secretary of Arriva Energy Inc., Total Energy Services Inc., Circa Enterprises Inc., Compass Petroleum Ltd. and Voodoovox Inc., among others. In addition, Nick is a director of PetroSantander Inc., a private, Houston-based corporation engaged in oil and gas exploration and development in South America, the United States and eastern Europe.

Nick is a member of the Securities Advisory Committee of the Alberta Securities Commission.

In 2002, Nick was named one of Lexpert's Rising Stars, Canada's top 40 lawyers under 40.

Total Energy, in its unsolicited takeover of Savanna Energy Services Corp. (one of Lexpert's Top 10 deals of 2017). 
Compass Petroleum Ltd., in the $97.8-million acquisition of all of the issued and outstanding shares of Compass Petroleum Ltd. by Whitecap Resources Inc.
Total Energy Services Ltd., in its reorganization, by way of plan of arrangement, into a mutual fund trust, Total Energy Services Trust.
Doman Industries (forest products), counsel to senior bondholder group in connection with Doman's US$1.1-billion total debt in connection with its restructuring pursuant to the CCAA.
Senior noteholders of Vicwest Corporation (steel) in its $90-million note debt restructuring pursuant to the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act.
Compass Petroleum Ltd., in its acquisition of Ravenwood Resources Inc.
Chieftain International Inc., in its $915-million acquisition by Hunt Oil Company.
Total Energy Services Ltd., in its acquisition of a number of  companies engaged in the oilfield services business.
Diamond Tree Energy Ltd., in its $100-million Arrangement Agreement combining Diamond Tree Energy Ltd. and Crocotta Energy Inc. 
Compass Petroleum Ltd., in its January 2011 public offering of $15-million common shares pursuant to a short form prospectus filed with securities commissions in various jurisdictions in Canada.
Total Energy Services Inc., in its public offering of $69 million aggregate principal amount of convertible unsecured subordinated debentures, including $9 million aggregate principal amount of debentures distributed following the exercise of an overallotment option granted to the underwriters.
Diamond Tree Energy Ltd., in its offer to purchase Blue Mountain Resources Ltd. in a $115-million share for share takeover bid.
Athanor BV, in the business combination between Athanor and Winstar Resources Ltd. and related financing transactions.
TG World Energy Corporation, as issuer, in its private placement of units.
Diamond Tree Resources Ltd., in its going public transaction, involving the reverse takeover of Wise Wood Corporation.
VoodooVox Inc., in its "going public" transaction, which involved the reverse takeover of GRD Enterprises Inc. and a concurrent financing.
Circa Enterprises Inc., a public manufacturing corporation, in its acquisition of Hydel Enterprises Inc.
VoodooVox Inc., in the establishment of commercial arrangements with Yellow Pages Group for the commercial deployment of Call Genie's Enhanced Voice Directory Service.
Gulfstream Resources Canada Limited, in the $208-million acquisition of the company by Andarko Petroleum Corporation.
Total Energy Services Ltd., a subsidiary of Total Energy Services Trust, in its acquisition of the operating assets of Oilpatch Rentals Ltd., (oilfield drilling and production rental equipment and trucking assets).
Compass Petroleum Ltd., in its acquisition of Los Altares Resources Ltd., through the amalgamation of Swiftsure Energy Inc., (a wholly owned subsidiary of Compass Petroleum) and Los Altares Resources.
