Ashley Paterson has a commercial litigation practice that focuses on class action litigation, product liability litigation, fraud litigation and other complex corporate disputes. Ashley has experience in motions, applications, trials and appeals before both Ontario courts and tribunals and the Supreme Court of Canada.
Ashley has worked on several particularly influential cases, most recently acting for the defendants in a proposed multiple-model product liability class action in which certification was denied and, in 2014, a significant freedom of association case in the Supreme Court of Canada.
Ashley frequently writes on new developments in the law and was recently published in the 2015 International Comparative Legal Guide to Product Liability.
As a law student, Ashley was a research assistant for a project focused on exposing racial profiling within Canadian police forces and was a teaching assistant to junior law students. In her final year, Ashley won the award for excellence in Civil Trial Advocacy.
Ashley also sits on the 2017-2018 Class Actions Executive of the Ontario Bar Association, and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Advocates Society.
