Bennett Jones LLP has once again been recognized as one of Canada's Top Employers For Young People and singled out the "What We Wish We Had Known" guide that provides support to the firm's new students.

The guide was featured in the firm's 2014 My Future in Law student recruitment magazine.

Bennett Jones was also ranked as the 3rd best place to work in Canada, and as one of Canada's Top 100 Employers for 2014. This is the fifth consecutive year since 2011 that Bennett Jones has been included on the list.

According to Mediacorp Canada Inc., the advisory board that oversaw the selection criteria, Bennett Jones was selected for the following reasons:

  • Manages an in-house mentoring program to help students transition to junior associates and offers mentoring to legal assistants, legal summer students, and articling students
  • Works with various post-secondary institutions such as SAIT Polytechnic, Bow Valley College, Humber College and Reeves College to hire Legal Assistant practicum students each year
  • The 6-week program includes in-house training, rotational assignments between departments and opportunities to job-shadow in various areas; students are also paired with a mentor and a portion of the practicum is paid
  • In an effort to provide additional support to law students, created a guide entitled "What We Wish We Had Known", which includes tips on researching prospective firms for employment, general information about Bennett Jones and what students can expect from their summer or articling experience.
