Anthony Friend's practice includes corporate, securities and energy industry litigation, arbitration and mediation, defence of medical malpractice claims, and corporate arrangements and restructuring.
Tony appears as counsel before all court levels in Alberta and the Supreme Court of Canada. He also appears before numerous boards and tribunals including the Alberta Energy and Utilities Board, the Alberta Energy Regulator (formerly, the Energy Resources Conservation Board), the Canada Labour Relations Board, and the Alberta College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Tony has training in Arbitration and Mediation from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine School of Law.
Tony has been a lecturer at the University of Calgary and at numerous seminars on a variety of topics, including corporate restructurings, limited liability partnerships and malpractice litigation.
Tony has served on a range of boards and commissions, for community organizations, national corporations, as well as the City of Calgary. He has also served as an elected bencher of the Law Society of Alberta from 1995 to 2002 and as a member of the executive committee of the Law Society of Alberta from 1999 to 2002.
