David Bursey is a member of the Energy Regulatory Practice Group and co-head of the firm's Aboriginal Law Practice Group. He represents energy and natural resource clients on regulatory, environmental, and aboriginal law matters. He regularly appears on behalf of clients before federal and provincial regulatory tribunals, such as the National Energy Board and the British Columbia Utilities Commission, and before government review panels during environmental reviews of major projects. His clients include natural resource companies, transportation companies and industry associations as well as government agencies and First Nations. He advises clients on public utility regulation, resource and infrastructure development, environmental assessment, aboriginal rights and water resource management.

Before joining private practice, David worked with the federal government in Ottawa – first with the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources, and then with the National Energy Board.

David is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Canadian Water Resource Association, the Canadian Dam Association, the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, and the Inter-Pacific Bar Association. He is also a former National Chair of the Administrative Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association and a former Provincial Chair of the Administrative Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association (British Columbia).
