Jo has a general litigation practice, which includes commercial and contractual disputes, civil fraud recovery, and employment law. Jo practices in all aspects of employment law, including managing the employment relationship, employee discipline and termination, wrongful dismissal claims, pay disputes, human rights complaints, disability and insurance issues, employee shareholder disputes, enforcement of non-competition and confidentiality agreements, contract negotiation and drafting, benefit and incentive plan management, executive compensation, employee privacy issues, workers compensation claims, occupational health and safety matters and alcohol and drug testing. Jo has also provided assistance in connection with corporate mergers, acquisitions, financings and restructurings.
Jo has assisted with matters before all levels of the Alberta court system and before various adjudicative bodies in Canada.
Prior to joining Bennett Jones as an associate, Jo articled with the firm's Calgary office.
During law school, Jo won prizes in Business Law, Tax Law, Securities Regulation, and Negotiation and Dispute Resolution, among others. Jo was active in mooting competitions and competed in the 2015 Canadian Corporate/Securities Moot. His team won an award for their Factum and Jo won an award for his individual oral advocacy. Jo was also an editor of the Saskatchewan Law Review.
