Noriko Shimura has a broad financial services, corporate commercial law and aviation law practice. She has experience representing borrowers and lenders in a wide range of domestic and international finance transactions (including, unsecured and secured, both syndicated and bilateral financings, acquisition financings, project financings and asset-backed financings), and regularly advises clients on aircraft financing and leasing transactions and on aviation law matters. Noriko also advises Canadian corporations with business activities in Japan and liaises with Japanese companies entering the Canadian market.

Prior to joining Bennett Jones, Noriko was an associate for another major international law firm based in Tokyo, Japan, where she specialized in debt capital markets transactions, finance and general corporate matters. She has advised leading global financial institutions on various matters relating to debt securities, including "Samurai Bonds".

Canadian Pacific Railway, in its public offering of $300-million aggregate principal amount of 3.05% notes due 2050.
Canadian Pacific Railway, in its public offering of US$500-million aggregate principal amount of 2.050% notes due 2030.
Inuvialuit Development Corporation, as owner of Canadian North airline, in the merger of Canadian North and First Air (owned by Makivik Corporation), to create a Inuit-owned unified northern Canadian airline.
Kissner Group Holdings LP, completed its acquisition of NSC Minerals Ltd., a market-leading provider of salt products in Western Canada and the North Central United States, from an investor group led by Altas Partners.
Denham Capital agrees to sell JDS Silver Holdings Ltd. to Coeur Mining, Inc. for up to US$250 million.
Northern Frontier Corp., in its $27-million acquisition of Central Water & Equipment Services Ltd., a concurrent $21-million bought deal offering of common shares and warrants and the establishment of new senior credit facilities.
TriWest Capital Partners, one of Canada's leading private equity firms, in its acquisition of Triple M Housing Ltd, a leading manufacturer of factory built housing.
TriWest Capital Partners, in partnership with senior management and existing shareholders, in its investment in Lithion Power Group (fka HPC Energy Services Ltd.).
Chorus Aviation, in the structured financing of 34 Q400 Aircraft with Export Development Corporation.
Canadian counsel to Kissner Holdings LP, in its US$400,000,000 notes offering in the U.S. led by Jefferies LLC, and related refinancing.
Canadian North Inc., in its asset based loan facility.
Weldco-Beales Manufacturing Inc., in its asset based loan facility.
United Active Living Inc., in its senior secured credit facility.
Acted as issuer’s lead counsel for one of the largest UK-based financial institutions with respect to its first-time issuance of senior debt securities, valued at JPY33.4 billion (approximately USD400 million), in Japan.*
Acted for one of the world’s largest financial institutions with respect to its issuance of public debt securities, valued at JPY100 billion (approximately USD1.2 billion,) in Japan.*
