Maureen Ward presents "Parallel and Distinct Remedies: The Intersection in International Financial Crime Between Civil and Criminal Remedies" at the KPMG Global Forensic Symposium in Toronto. This session will explore international civil asset recovery with a look at parallel and distinct remedies commonly pursued in Canada after the fall-out of a cross-border financial crime. This will involve a look at the law in respect of urgent injunctive relief as well as the law in relation to investigative tools used in fraud matters. The session will analyze jurisdictional considerations and the intersection between civil remedies and other means of enforcement (regulatory and criminal).
