On November 3, 2010, the Canadian government concluded, on an interim basis, that BHP Billiton's offer to acquire Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. was not likely to be of "net benefit" to Canada under the Investment Canada Act. Shortly thereafter BHP withdrew its offer. This webinar examines the status of foreign investment review in Canada following the BHP/Potash experience, with a special focus on prospective investment by strategic, financial and sovereign-wealth/state-owned investors in the energy and natural resource sectors of the Canadian economy.
