Radha Curpen CSR and Indigenous Rights

December 13, 2019

Radha Curpen writes on trends and best practices in corporate social responsibility and Indigenous rights in the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade's Sounding Board. These include:

  • United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and reconciliation in British Columbia (Bill 41)
  • Impact Benefit Agreements
  • Best practices for CSR

Radha says the role of Indigenous rights in CSR will continue to grow in law, standards and norms. Energy companies will need to continue their leading role in this area and incorporate Indigenous rights into CSR policies and practices. In B.C., the Province must show strong leadership to advance reconciliation and to reduce uncertainty about the implications of Bill 41

Radha's column is on page 3 of the December 2019 issue.
