Course Overview

Developing key leadership and management skills is central to motivating and challenging individuals and teams to facilitate the full use of their talents. Business leaders need superior influencing skills to become trusted advisors and to provide effective leadership for high performance teams and clients through difficult situations.

This Bennett Jones Academy professionalism series course will focus on:

  • Unlocking creativity and innovation;
  • Creating high performance teams; and
  • Leading with integrity and managing through trust.

Faculty

Denis Shackel, Ph.D. President, Shackel Associates Denis is head of the Management Communication Department at the Richard Ivey School of Business, where he is teaching within the MBA, EMBA, HBA and Executive Development programs. Denis was a Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of Toronto for 29 years. When retiring from the University of Toronto in 2000, he was honoured as Professor of the Year. In 2004 and 2010 he was honoured by being chosen as Professor of the Year at the University of Western Ontario. Denis is an internationally published author; his latest book "Five Seconds at a Time" is a leadership text based on his own experience facing death on a mountain in his home land of New Zealand.
