Summarize
Presented at an IE Canada Calgary Chapter Seminar, this presentation covers the trend to proactive customs compliance by Canadian importers and exporters and the reasons for it.  Spot and internal reviews to measure company and service provider compliance and performance, respectively, as well as compliance action items were discussed in detail.  The presentation distinguishes between self-adjustments and amendment of entries flowing from voluntary disclosures.  An analysis of multiple and single program trade verification audits was provided, together with priorities and trends from the points of view of the Canada Border Services Agency and the importing and exporting communities.  Finally, operational challenges to importers and exporters of the "raised bar" of customs compliance was discussed.
