Leah Tolton Joins Bennett Jones as Partner in Edmonton

Leah Tolton has joined Bennett Jones as a partner in Edmonton. She has 30 years of experience advising family-owned enterprises and corporate clients as they transition through every stage of their business. She represents clients in the oilfield services, heavy construction, waste management, hospitality and real estate industries.

Leah's practice focuses on ultra high net worth families and their companies, family-owned businesses and their owners and boards of directors. She advises clients, including family-owned businesses, on strategic planning, succession planning, risk management, governance, mergers, acquisitions and sale transactions. Leah is routinely involved in the negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements and she also advises clients in lending transactions.

Leah is a long-time mentor of young women lawyers. She led the women's mentorship committee at her previous firm and was a mentor in Deloitte's Women Initiative Leadership Learning program. In the community, Leah has served as president of Edmonton Women’s Shelter, a board member of the Norwood Child and Family Resource Centre and president of the Association for Corporate Growth, Edmonton.

An avid speaker, Leah has presented at legal and business events on topics such as how to avoid disputes, converting employees to owners, and collaborative business ventures between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal groups.
