Chris Simard is co-head of the Restructuring and Insolvency practice group. His practice encompasses all areas of restructuring and bankruptcy as well as energy litigation. He acts for creditors, debtors, court-appointed monitors, receivers and trustees in bankruptcy and in large and complex insolvencies and restructurings.

In the area of energy litigation, Chris has advised energy companies on disputes arising out of CAPL, seismic and security agreements and on various matters related to Crown and Freehold leases.

Calfrac Well Services in its appearance before the Ontario Securities Commission in successfully resisting an application by Wilks Brothers, LLC to review a decision of the Toronto Stock Exchange that granted exemptive relief to Calfrac in relation to a significant recapitalization transaction.
Homestyle Selections LP, through its portfolio company Freshstone Brands Inc., in the US$30-million acquisition of the assets and business of Tiffany Gate Foods Inc. and all of the Ontario-based assets of Sun Rich Fresh Foods. The acquisition was completed through a Stalking Horse sale process conducted under the CCAA.
Devon Canada Corporation and Devon Canada Crude Marketing Corporation, in their approx. $3.8-billion sale of substantially all of their assets to Canadian Natural Resources Limited.
CST Canada Coal Limited, in its acquisition of coal assets of Grande Cache Coal LP and Grande Cache Coal Corporation for aggregate consideration of approximately US$433.9 million.
Tervita Corporation, completes $3.6-billion recapitalization transaction under the CBCA.
