Overview

Nyrie Israelian has a general intellectual property litigation practice with a focus in patent disputes. Prior to joining Bennett Jones, Nyrie worked in the litigation group at a leading intellectual property boutique. Nyrie has appeared before all levels of the Federal Court as well as the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Court of Appeal.

Nyrie graduated law school with a focus on intellectual property, information and technology law. While at law school, Nyrie was extensively involved in moots. In her second year, she represented Western at the Harold G. Fox Intellectual Property Moot, where she was a semi-finalist and was awarded Best Respondent Factum. Nyrie is also the recipient of the 2021 Harte Law Award, awarded for academic merit and aptitude for health law.

Prior to attending law school, Nyrie's doctoral work focused on the interaction between gut microbes and immune health, as well as the function of an innate immune checkpoint inhibitor with applications in cancer immunotherapy.

Nyrie was called to the Ontario bar in 2022. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada and the Advocates' Society.
