Preet Bell is trusted by clients to develop novel solutions to complex litigation and transactional issues, with a focus on debt restructurings. Her analytical ability and rigorous approach offer a distinct advantage to clients facing difficult legal problems.

As a Complex Legal Issues and Opinions Partner, Preet specializes in the analysis of complicated and novel legal issues and prepares memoranda, expert legal opinions and written advocacy, focusing on appellate-level facta, for lawyers and clients of the firm in numerous areas of practice. She analyzes and finds solutions for intricate and complex legal issues in transactional, litigation, and insolvency and restructuring contexts, with a specific focus on CCAA and CBCA restructurings. Preet's practice includes advising on cross-border issues arising in restructurings and litigation.

Preet is widely published in a number of publications, including the Annual Review of Insolvency Law, the National Creditor Debtor Review, the Banking & Finance Law Review, Ultimate Corporate Counsel Guide, The Lawyer's Daily, the Canadian Securities Law News, the Commercial Insolvency Reporter, the Federated Press Corporate Liability Journal, The Winston Report, the Corporate Securities and Financial Law Report, the Ontario Bar Association's Taxation Law Newsletter, the Federated Press Tax Litigation Journal, and The Oatley-McLeish Guide to Personal Injury Practice in Motor Vehicle Cases. Preet is a contributing writer to Directors' Duties in Canada, 6th ed., published by CCH Canadian Limited.

Preet has been interviewed by Lexpert magazine in connection with numerous articles written on international class actions, and by The Globe and Mail and The Lawyer's Daily on her work in connection with legal issues arising out of COVID-19. She regularly presents at internal and external continuing legal education conferences and seminars.

Preet also serves as Chair of the Toronto Student Committee, overseeing all student recruitment for the Toronto office.

Canadian counsel to Conagra Brands, Inc. in its $10.9-billion acquisition of Pinnacle Foods Inc.
Former auditors of Buckingham Securities, in the Superior Court of Justice and in the Ontario Court of Appeal in the successful defence of a class action, and in securing the dismissal of a negligence claim against the defendant accounting firm.
Her Majesty the Queen in Right of British Columbia, in health-care cost recovery litigation from the tobacco industry (HMTQ v. PMI).
SFC Litigation Trust, in a successful 15 week trial against the former CEO of Sino-Forest Corporation, Allen Chan, resulting in a judgment in fraud and breach of fiduciary duty of US$2.6 billion.

Nortel Networks, representing bondholders with claims in excess of U.S. $4 billion in ongoing proceedings pursuant to the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act.
Sino-Forest Corporation, in its application under the Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act, in which a plan of arrangement was approved by creditors and by the court within nine months after filing.
