2026 CBA Tax Law for Lawyers

Edwin G. (Ed) Kroft KC served as co‑coordinator of the CBA Tax Law for Lawyers Conference which took place from May 31 to June 4 in Niagara‑on‑the‑Lake, Ontario. Presented by the Canadian Bar Association, this national program was developed by leading tax practitioners and designed to support junior tax specialists and non‑specialists in the practical application of Canadian tax law.

In addition to his role as co‑coordinator, Ed also spoke in four core sessions addressing foundational and advanced issues routinely encountered in tax practice:

  • Structure of the Income Tax Act and Basic Concepts
  • Tax Dispute Resolution: Assessments, Appeals and Enforcement
  • Tax Dispute Resolution: The Conduct of Tax Litigation
  • Ethical Issues in Tax Practice: Solicitor‑Client Privilege, Practice Dilemmas and Risk Management
