ESG-Indigenous Case Study: 
Cascade Power Plant Project

Vivek Warrier, Denise Bright, and Ashley White assisted in designing and implementing the precedent setting project structure and financing solutions that facilitated Indigenous Community equity ownership in the Cascade Power Project. Bennett Jones acted for OPTrust, the project sponsor.

The First Nations Major Projects Coalition shares a case study on the Cascade Power Plant Project as a model for how ESG conscious investors, such as OPTrust, can "navigate the intersection between sustainable investment/ESG standards and Indigenous rights."

The Cascade Power Project won Project Finance International's Canadian Power Deal of the Year in 2020.
