Allan Gotlieb Comments on Removal of Paintings from HQ of Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade

In The Globe and Mail article, "The Queen Has Her Place, But So Do the Pellans," Allan Gotlieb and Thomas Delworth comment on the Harper government's decision to replace two Alfred Pellan grand oil paintings from the halls of the Lester B. Pearson Building, headquarters of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, with a portrait of the Queen.

The authors urge the Prime Minister to restore the Pellans to their historic place. "The monarchy is part of our Constitution, and it's appropriate that a portrait of the Queen be exhibited there… But the Pellans represent out dynamism as a pioneering people…"
