Bennett Jones Acts for IJGlobal Awards Winners

Bennett Jones congratulates our clients, the Government of Bermuda and Alberta PowerLine Limited Partnership—a partnership between Alberta-based Canadian Utilities Limited (an ATCO company) and United States-based Quanta Capital Solutions, Inc.—for winning deal of the year honours at the prestigious 2017 IJGlobal Magazine Awards in New York City yesterday. Bennett Jones represented both clients in their infrastructure projects that received the:

• North America Airport Deal of the Year—L.F. Wade International Airport, Bermuda: Bennett Jones acted as legal counsel on behalf of the Government of Bermuda to structure, renegotiate and document this innovative infrastructure project.
• North America Transmission/Distribution Deal of the Year—Ft. McMurray West 500kV Transmission Line, Alberta: Bennett Jones represented Alberta PowerLine and ATCO Electric Ltd., the operating and maintenance contractor and construction co-venturer.

IJGlobal Awards Dinners host the infrastructure industry’s best and brightest and celebrate the best in class deals in energy and infrastructure over the past year. IJGlobal Magazine is based in London, United Kingdom, and is the leading infrastructure project publication and online resource in the world. 2017 winners will also appear in the spring edition of IJGlobal Magazine.

Bennett Jones also acted for the winner of the Gold Award for Infrastructure from the Canadian Council for Public-Private Partnerships. The Government of Nunavut won this award in November 2017 for the outstanding success of the Iqaluit International Airport Improvement Project. Bennett Jones acted on behalf of the Government of Nunavut throughout the procurement.
