Traditionally in Canada, purchasers in energy deals were assumed to take on all environmental liabilities retroactively assuming that there was no misrepresentation on the part of the seller, says Warrier. “That’s sometimes a tough pill to swallow for an inward-coming investor.”

Claire was part of True Patriot Love Foundation's (TPL) signature expedition in 2016, where 8 ill and injured soldiers and 17 Canadian business leaders took part. The journey exceeded its fundraising goal of $1 million for TPL. Claire personally raised over $119,000, well over twice her original goal. Bennett Jones is TPL's pro bono counsel.
