Kirk Emery practices corporate law with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and equity financings. He also negotiates and drafts commercial and supply agreements, and governance agreements such as shareholder and partnership agreements.
He advises Canadian and foreign companies on domestic and cross-border transactions in the technology, bioscience, pharmaceutical, energy and natural resource, real estate, and financial service industries.
His private-client experience spans from start-ups to large private companies, and he acts for public companies listed on Canadian and US stock exchanges.
At the McGill Faculty of Law, Kirk was Associate Managing Editor of the McGill Journal of Sustainable Development Law and Policy, President of the McGill Business Law Association, Vice-President of the Law Students’ Association, and he co-lectured the Legal Ethics and Advocacy course.
Outside of the Faculty of Law, he was Councilor of the Canadian Confederation of Civil Law Student Associations, Councilor of the Students’ Society of McGill University, Councilor of the Saint Mary’s University Alumni Association, and volunteer at the McGill Legal Information Clinic.
Before practicing law, he was a geophysical surveyor on natural resource exploration projects.
Kirk completed the Canadian Securities Course.
