Helen's practice focuses on health law and administrative law. She has acted for physicians in medical negligence lawsuits and in regulatory complaints before the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Helen has appeared before several regulatory and administrative bodies involving matters of privacy, human rights and professional discipline. She has also represented physicians, health care professionals and police in judicial reviews and fatality inquiries.
During law school, Helen was an executive member of the Health Law Association and an editor of the Journal of Health Law and Policy. Helen articled with the Bennett Jones' Calgary office prior to becoming an associate. She then worked in-house at several governmental organizations and at another national law firm, before returning to practice at the firm.
