Summarize

On Saturday, March 18, 2017, the Bennett Jones Cup in Health Law Advocacy took place at the Edmonton Court Centre, between student teams from the University of Alberta and the University of Calgary law schools.

The Honourable Mr. Justice John Little, and Mr. Anthony Friend Q.C. presided over the Moot.  All participants capably advanced a difficult and complex legal argument in the face of rigorous questioning from the Bench. In the end, the University of Calgary prevailed and was awarded the Bennett Jones Cup for their over-all performance.  A $1,000 scholarship was awarded to the top oralist from each University – Carina Chiu from the University of Alberta – and Iain Mingo from the University of Calgary.  The moot competition was followed by a reception and awards ceremony at the Bennett Jones office emceed by James Heelan, Q.C.

The University of Calgary's victory was due in no small part to able coaching by Bennett Jones Associates, Codie Chisholm and Helen Dick as well as Articling Student, Alexander Baker. Well Done!
