In the Summer 2010 edition of CCCA Magazine, Barry Reiter discusses lawyers joining corporate boards, stating there is "nothing wrong". However, he warns, "Never, ever give legal advice when sitting as a director." Barry also discusses how remuneration, through directors' compensation, may be a factor in determining the liability of a director lawyer's firm in cases similar to Allen v. Aspen Group Resources Corporation. He also suggests that, "In today's legal world of complex corporate governance it is very beneficial to have lawyers on boards."
