Professionalism Series: Breaking Through: Career Strategies and Life Lessons from Leaders in the Legal Profession

October 01, 2014

Close

Over the years, research has identified some critical factors that affect career advancement within the legal profession. For example, both women and men are more likely to advance if a sponsor or champion recommends their strengths and achievements within senior management, and if they understand the corporate and office politics. Women are more likely to be considered for promotion if they, like men, ask for opportunities and step up to take risk. This research has helped companies and business leaders understand many of the organizational barriers or best practices that can limit or enhance the career potential of its employees.

Join us for an evening of cocktails and conversation as our panellists, including the authors of Breaking Through: Tales from the Top Canadian Women General Counsel, discuss their personal roadmaps for 'breaking through' to the top ranks.
