John Weekes writes on why Changing Times Require a New Approach to Securing the Future Prosperity of Canada's Agrifood Sector in a special edition of The CAPI Connection, the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute’s monthly newsletter. He writes that:

As climate change exacts an increasing toll on food production around the globe, it is evident that it will be increasingly difficult to provide adequate sustainable food supplies for a growing world population. The next Canadian government should establish a strategic plan for putting Canadian agriculture in the lead in addressing this challenge. There is considerable scope for Canadian producers to increase production in an environmentally sustainable way. But doing so will require adjustments to the legal framework, including in the international trade rules. Agriculture is a key sector for growth in Canada’s post COVID recovery.
