Robyn Ryan Bell Appointed a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice in Ottawa

Robyn M. Ryan Bell, a partner at Bennett Jones LLP, has been appointed a Judge of the Superior Court of Justice in Ottawa. The Court is one of the busiest trial courts in the world and is the largest superior trial court in Canada.

Robyn received her B.A. in Political Studies from Queen's University in 1983, an LL.B. from Dalhousie University in 1986 (where she was the Gold Medalist), and an LL.M. from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2009. She also holds an Associate Diploma in pianoforte from the Western Ontario Conservatory of Music. Robyn joined Bennett Jones LLP in 1997 as a partner. Her practice has focused on administrative law, commercial litigation, privacy law and public law and she has appeared before Courts and Commissions at all levels across Canada.

Robyn has been a regular speaker at professional conferences and has taught advocacy skills at the Osgoode Hall Intensive Trial Advocacy Workshop, at Queen's University Law School and for the Advocates Society. She is also a past director of the Advocates Society, served as a mentor under the Law Society's Civility Complaints Protocol, and is a member of the editorial board of Corporate Liability published by Federated Press.
