Ian Michael Joins Bennett Jones as Partner

Bennett Jones is pleased to announce that Ian C. Michael has joined the firm as a partner in the corporate practice in the firm's Toronto office.

Ian's practice is focused on corporate and securities law with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and infrastructure consortia. He has worked extensively with Chinese companies doing business in Canada and Canadian companies doing business in China. He works with business and private equity investors in a range of industries including aviation, real estate, biosciences, and financial services.

In January 2014, Ian was appointed a member of the Security Advisory Committee of the Ontario Securities Commission (SAC). SAC provides advice to the Commission on a variety of matters including legislative and policy initiatives and important capital markets trends. In 2006, he completed an eight-month secondment to the Mergers & Acquisitions Team of the Corporate Finance Branch at the OSC.

Ian has taught mergers & acquisitions for the advanced securities law program at the University of Western Ontario and the University of Windsor. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the St. Andrew's College Foundation.
